Group Class | Eating Balanced Meals

We’re excited to announce that we will be offering a group class with a focus on eating balanced meals, beginning Thursday, September 6th! The class will take place on four consecutive Thursday evenings, 6:00PM – 7:00PM.

The media is constantly flooded with a variety of different fad diets, and it can become overwhelming trying to discern all the food rules out there. What’s worse is, in the long term, diets are not sustainable. In fact, research shows they most often result in weight gain, and such unnecessary restrictions can lead to disordered eating and decreased feelings of self-worth. If you’re concerned about how to get more out of the food on your plate to improve your health but don’t have time for one-on-one counseling with a dietitian, this group class can provide a supportive environment to learn the main facts about food and nutrition and incorporating sustainable lifestyle changes.

The class will be progressive, with a different focus each week:

  • Thursday, September 6th:

Nutrition 101 – Learn the basics of nutrition, discussing the important roles each nutrient plays in the body, and feel more confident recognizing which foods are more nutrient dense.

  • Thursday, September 13th:

The Role of Food in Chronic Disease – Understand how various foods influence common disease states: high cholesterol, hypertension /other cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, and more.

  • Thursday, September 20th:

Keeping the Balance Away From Home – Convenient foods are a reality in this fast-paced society. Learn how you can still enjoy eating out without compromising your health and understand how to approach nutrition labels to make more informed choices.

  • Thursday, September 27th :

Listening to Your Body – Learn how to appreciate the relationship between satisfaction and health. Understand how to recognize and honor your hunger and fullness and participate in a brief introduction to mindful eating.

The cost for each weekly session is $30/class. However, we strongly encourage attendance and participation for all four weeks, at a reduced total cost of $100 for 4 weeks. Bring a friend or family member, and you both save! The cost per duo is $50/class, or $175 for 4 weeks.
